Pekiti Tirsia Tactical Association
The Pekiti Tirsia Tactical Association was founded by Tuhon Jared Wihongi in 2002. The idea of an association dedicated to the tactical application of Pekiti-Tirsia was based on Tuhon Jared’s extensive background as a Police Trainer, SWAT Operator and an Army Special Forces Combatives Instructor.
The original concept of the Pekiti Tirsia Tactical Association was an organization dedicated to training the Tri-V Method of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali with a strict emphasis on Tactical Application. The mission has since grown to encompass “Classical Pekiti-Tirsia” training methodologies in addition to the Tri-V Method.
Most Senior Instructors within the PTTA are current and former Police/ Military Operators and Use-of-Force trainers from around the world. This being the case, the PTTA has expanded to the point where most affiliate schools have classes and organizations with student bases made up primarily of civilian enthusiasts, as well as police/military Operators.
Our pursuit of knowledge is guided by Grandtuhon Leo T. Gaje Jr. whom officially endorses the PTTA and acts as Chief Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors. The PTTA is one of several organizations that operates under the umbrella of the Pekiti-Tirsia Global Grand Alliance.

Pekiti Tirsia Kali
The Type of Kali our school practices is Pekiti Tersia Kali.
Pekiti-Tirsia is strictly a combat-oriented fighting system, as opposed to sport-focused, style of Filipino Martial Arts. Pekiti-Tirsia focuses on the knife and sword techniques, dealing with multiple opponents. These practiced movements translating into a ferocious empty hand system consisting of striking with the open hand, elbows and knees, as well as limb and tendon destruction.
Weapon categories include:
-
Single/double stick (single/double sword)
-
Single/double knife
-
Espada y Daga (long blade and knife
-
Modern weapons: Firearms, flashlight, weapons of opportunity, and other tools
-
Sibat (spear)
-
Empty-handed techniques and grappling (dumpag)
-
Flexible weapons (sarong)
-
Axe (wasay)
-
Shield (Tamay)
In Ilongo/Bisaya, Pekiti means “to get in close". Tirsia, derived from Latin tersiarius, means "to quarter". The Pekiti Tirsia Kali system provides the tools needed to move in so close and quarter the opponent using multiple combinations of offensive and/or counter-offensive attacks, leaving no space for escape.
The Mastery of a set of movements requires hard work and full time dedication. In the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali system mastery is acquired by the application of movements through distance sparring and close-in technical exchange by use of countering and re-countering methods. There is only one set of fighting principles and movement - no matter if attacker or defender is armed or unarmed. This structure allows a more economic use of practice time and creates confidence by understanding and experience. If a method works against an opponent armed with a knife, it also works against the unarmed opponent. This is known as the principle of transferrable technology.
Full understanding of Pekiti-Tirsia leads to continuous improvement and continued adaptation of its methods to new demands. Pekiti-Tirsia Kali today is a valuable and practical Survival Art. It is effective in combat and indispensable for today’s heroes of the law enforcement, military, and security communities. This is the ancient art for modern times.
An important part of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali is its positive, life appreciating philosophy: To believe in Life, in Good Health, and to believe in Success. Respect, etiquette, and professionalism are essential.
A skilled fighter does not rely on brute muscle power, but on speed, timing, precision and co-ordination, Pekiti-Tirsia offers convenient and logical methods against stronger opponents – no matter if knife, empty hands, or other combat.
